Shabu Shabu and Movies

I love watching movies at the cinema. Therefore a while back I created a group in facebook for me and my friends who share the same love of watching movies. So we can better coordinate movie watching and such. Since everyone has a facebook account and smart phones.

As Chinese New Year is approaching, we decided to have a get together, and have dinner at Rolling Shabu Shabu together before going off to watch a movie. RM 28.80 per person, all you can eat. Not bad, unfortunately I cannot eat much!

At first it was suppose to be around 18 pax but in the end only 12pax showed up. Two got lost, and four decided to go do other things.

Alvin loves his meat.

*ehem* Us girls :P

The other side of the table xD

Shooting from the toilet.

Desmond wants more food!

After an hour of eating, we all gave up.

Kaki photo boss with his 50mm 1.4G!

Foosi trying to act cute!

Then we scooted off to MBO. The traffic was horrible! Lucky we headed off early.

Yellow ceiling gives yellow skin tones. COOL!

Mali Mali, lets group photo!

Kaki movies! Davy, Jocelyn, Desmond, Cecilia, Patricia, Alvin, Me, Calvin, Frankie, and Kally. Hopefully one of this days can get a bigger group photo.

More friends! I see two people hiding behind! haha!

So we watched Underworld: Awakening. It was not bad. Fighting from the get go. Good special effects. My only question is how come her hand guns do not need to be reloaded, and where does she stores all the grenades on her super tight costume? AND after taking so many bullets, how come the costume no damage, still very shiney and nice??

After movie, pay for parking, and leave for zzz~

Till next movie.

BCCK Ramadan Buffet is Back

They say its Bigger and Better compared to last year, Hmm.. I have no idea but it is definately BIG. It starts from 5th to 26th August 2011. So if you have not been there, its definately worth the drive down there. There was about roughly 100 items for everyone to taste but the menu will be rotated on a weekly basis on every friday.

This is the entrance to the great hall where the management had ushers guide the dinner guests to their respective tables. Very well thought and organised. I missed the mad rush of people because I arrived late (again!). If you must know, I had some car troubles about 100kms away.

Impressed with the layout and decor. Purple is the new black ?

I really like this. It is basically to showcase what they can do for weddings and other functions. Smart.

Buffet area.

Desert~

For me, this was the best dish available.

Awesome

From another angle~

Kolomee? dang, Im getting more and more hungry!

This was what I started off with. The beef was exceptional. No complains! Then there was just a flow of too much food which I cant even recall what I had as I was pretty tired and slightly blur.

Desert~

More desert~

Chocolate fondue anyone?

Cake anyone?

more cakes!

While this is only for display, its still nice to see... this is not color corrected, straight off the camera!

... it was really GOOD!!!

Our table~

Whats for Sunkei Tonight?

The breaking of fast is a time when one enjoys a meal after a day of abstaining from food and drinks. In the month of Ramadan, breaking of fast or as known locally; bersunkei sees families congregating to enjoy the meal together at a place with a view. Where else in the city to enjoy Sunkei Ria at Blue Lagoon at Riverside Majestic Hotel

Compare to the Macam Macam ada mega buffet this is a place which is more relaxed and comfortable. Even tho it does not boast so many delicious items for you to eat, the food here does not disappoint. Still its about 100 varieties of food available for you to choose from.

There is Japenese food, traditional Malay food, Indian food, Steam boat food , roasted food , BBQ'ed food.. and many moar~ There is also a large selection of kuih muih available. I would say let the photo do the talking, but fact is, I arrived kinda late, had a prior engagement so when I reached people were starting to dig in. I didn't have much time to take more photos with my rumbling tummy! So here is what I got!

I dont know why, I found these so interesting that I shot few shots....

Probably the assortment of colors.

As you can see, the place is less packed as Grand Margherita Hotel. Its definalty more relax you can have a nice session with your family and friends. While enjoying the fine foods available. Its happening from 1st to 29th of August 2011, at the price of RM 79++ per person.

The Original Macam Macam ada buffet

If you have attended it before ITS BACK! if you havent before, ITS HERE! Held in conjunction with the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, the massive buffet is back in town from 1st to 29th of August 2011 at Grand Margherita Hotel.

We have had many days of dry weather and would you know it it rained on the day of the launching. Therefore there were heavy traffic and I arrived around 7pm. Suppose to reach at 630 ah! (excuses). Anyways, this year the buffet boasts over 200 choices of food.. really two hundred varieties. I probably tasted like 8-10 items only.

In case you got lost amongst the food, there were signs available to direct you to the right places XD

And because of the of rain, we could not mingle around the Poolside Pavilion which overlooks the Sarawak River. Which made the venue very packed as everyone was trying to avoid getting wet.

There were so many people and so much food to be had! Did I mention 200 choices? :P Here are some proof

Official opening of the Original Macam Macam Ada Ramadan Mega Buffet by YB Datuk Haji Talib Zulpilip

I'm just wondering, why does he has a sakkat on? Hmm...

Wuih~ familiar face!

This fellow also very familiar~

Anyways the food does not disappoint. Seriously, every item I tried was delicious. Maybe the Air Bandung was less sweet (which was good thing) it was pretty much perfect.

This was excellent, Penang noodles.

Ju Hu Eng Chai... memang sedap! =.=" 4.5 of 5 star. hehe cannot give perfect score right? gotta give room for improvement xD

Someone's really enjoying her food~

Gala Dinner & Fashion Show for World Eco-Fiber and Textile (W.E.F.T.) Forum 2010

This was my second time being able to attend and take photos of Gala Dinner & Fashion Show of the 6th World Eco-Fiber and Textire (W.E.F.T.) Forum 2010. Two years ago it was held at the Civic Center, this year it was held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK)

It was a last minute invite, but luckily I got in! Thanks Geri, Thanks Lucy.

The runwayThe designersThe SponsorsThe Emcees At the start of the dinner, there was quick slideshow in honor of the late Y.A. Bhg Datuk Amar Puan Sri Laila Taib, who was the patron of Society Atelier Sarawak.

Then there was a quick slideshow focusing on the flood in Pakistan and how it affects the people there especially those who makes their livelihood from handicraft. And so a donation was made by Society Atelier Sarawak to the World Crafts Council Asia Pacific Region (WCCAPR) of RM 10,000.00.

Edric Ong presenting the chequeEdric Ong giving a speechThen there was the fashion show by 21 designers from all over the world. There are just too many pictures and I already have posted them in my facebook account. I will highlight some of those which are my favorite of the night.

haha~ no face? I think the texture of the dress was fantastic! That was cute dress and Im loving her expression and there was some backlighting on the hair =)

Beautiful prints

After sticking about trying not to block the VIP's I headed to the side of the runways. For a different angle.

That is a gorgeous dress, too bad I got in too tight! Not only did I swap positions, I also swap between zoomed lens to wider angled lens.

Another gorgeous dress

The event was uneventful, which was a good thing, everything seemed to go as plan. The only issue was during the diinner the air condition was not working properly, everyone was sweating before the fashion show started. =) Good food, beautiful clothing on beautiful people. What a night! I have made it to 5th and 6th, hopefully more to come !
